K-4

Bible Lessons:

Creation, Noah, Boy Samuel, Daniel, Good Samaritan, Boyhood of Jesus, and Zacchaeus.  Includes memory  verses and  hymns/choruses.

Language Arts:
Phonics and Reading.
Recognition of name, sound, and picture of long and short vowels and consonants.
Sounding of  blends and one and two-vowel words.
Cursive Writing:
Formation of letters, blends, and words.  Writing of first name.  Twenty-eight poems and finger plays memorized.
Language:
Language development and listening skills that include color words, shapes, animals,
transportation, countries, community helpers, health, safety, manners, and science.
Numbers:
Number recognition and counting 1 – 100.  Number concepts 1 – 20.  Numbers before and after 1 – 20.
Numbers largest and smallest 1 – 20.  Addition facts: numbers 1+1 thru  9+1.

 

K-5

Salvation Series, Life of Moses, Life of Christ, Joshua,  and Gideon.  Memory verses.
Language Arts:
Phonics and Reading.
Review of names and sounds of the letters, consonant-vowel blends, one- and two-vowel words, Beginning phonic's rules and special sounds.  Writing of blends from dictation.   Reading skills:  speed, comprehension, and phrase reading.
Cursive Writing:
Writing names, letters, blends, words, and sentences.
Language:
Writing  sentences with capital letters and periods.
Poetry:
Thirteen poems memorized.
Science:
God’s Plan for Plants/Seeds, Animals, and the Seashore.
Health:
God’s Plan for Me, Earth & Space – weather and seasons.
Arithmetic:
Number recognition, counting, writing, concepts, before & after, largest and smallest 1 – 100.  Counting and writing by 2’s, 5’s, and 10’s to 100.  Number sequences by ones.  Using number words 1 – 10 and first-tenth.  Value of coins and dollar bill.  Telling time.  Use of  calendar, and day of the week.  Addition facts through 10.  One step addition story problems.  Beginning subtraction.
Social Studies:
Community Helpers, Children of the World, America – map studies, famous Americans and places.

 

Grade 1

Bible:
Salvation Series, Genesis, Life of Christ, Paul.  Memory verses.

Review of vowels, consonants,  blends, one-and two-vowel words, consonant blend.  Use of all phonic's special sounds.
Spelling rules:  

Double consonants, dropping silent e, changing y to i.  Oral Reading.
Cursive Writing:
Letter formation and seat-work.
Spelling and Poetry:
Eight poems memorized.  A weekly phonics-based word list and test.
Language:
Capitalization and Alphabetizing.  Punctuation at end of sentence.  Recognizing complete sentences.  Suffixes, prefixes, contractions, syllables, same/opposite words, compound words, and rhyming words.  Creative writing.
History and Geography:
Study of America and several other countries.
Science:
Health & Human Biology.
Energy, Animals & Insects, Plants, and Seasons.
Health, Safety, Manners:
Health & Nutrition – The care of our body.   Safety at home and away.   Manners.
Arithmetic:
Number recognition 1 – 1,000, Counting by 10’s, 5’s, 3’s, 2’s, addition facts through 13 and three digit addition with carrying,  Subtraction facts through 13 and two digit subtraction.  Using calendars, thermometers,  rulers, clocks, charts, and coins.  Age appropriate logical and critical thinking skills are developed.

Grade 2

Phonics and reading.
Review of vowels, consonants, blends, one-and two-vowel words, consonant blends.  All phonic's rules and special
sounds in reading.  Oral reading.

Review of letter formation.  Daily seat work and practices.
Spelling & Poetry:
Double consonants.  Weekly word list and test. Vocabulary words/definitions.
Language:
More Capitalization Rules.  End of sentence punctuation.  Writing complete sentences, questions, exclamations, and short stories.  Dictionary skills.  Suffixes, prefixes, singular and plural words, abbreviations, contractions, compound words, same/opposite words.  Creative and Letter writing.
History and Geography:
America - our home, people,  and future.
Science:
Plants, Animals, Health and Human Biology.  Earth and Space, Matter, Energy, and Conservation.
Health, Safety, Manners:
Nutrition and cleanliness.  Safety at home and away.  Being polite & kind.
Arithmetic:
Numbers 1 – 10,000.  Addition/Subtraction facts up to 18.  Four digit addition/subtraction with carrying/borrowing.
Begin multiplying/dividing.  Estimating/Rounding.  Using rulers and charts.  Counting and combining money. Review.

 

Grade 3

Weekly phonics-based word list with vocabulary.  Reinforcement activities.  Nine poems memorized.
Language Skills:
Complete sentences.  Punctuation & Capitalization.  Friendly letters.  Simple nouns, subjects, verbs, adjectives,
plurals, antonyms, homonyms, synonyms common contractions.  Dictionary Skills.
History and Geography:
Continents and Oceans.  States of the United States.  Study of our American heritage through the lives of great people.
Science:
Plants, Animals – vertebrates and invertebrates.  Health and Human Biology.  Oceans, Weather, and Conservation/Environments

Health, Safety, Manners:
Nutrition,  fighting disease.  Fire and Water safety.  First Aid.  Hospitality, courtesy, and respect.
Arithmetic:
Place value of numbers.  Addition/Subtraction facts with carrying/borrowing and checking.
Multiplication/Division tables 0 – 12 with carrying and checking.  The study of fractions,  Roman Numerals, measurement, time, money, decimals, and geometry make up the rest of the curriculum.

Grade 4

Language Skills:
Sentence structure, kinds of sentences, and diagramming.  Capitalization, abbreviations, and possessive words.        
Gathering information, writing an encyclopedia report, and book report.  Creative writing/Letter writing.  Dictionary Skills.  Using the eight parts of speech.
History and Geography:
Map study.  Six week study of State History.  Discovery and Colonization of America.  Growth of America.
Wars America has fought.  Our Freedoms.  Eight documents memorized.
Science:
Plants, Animals, insects and birds.  Matter, Energy, Sound and Hearing.  Earth and Space.  Oceanography  and Astronomy.
Health:
Physical Fitness.  Personal Hygiene.  Interpersonal Relationships.
Arithmetic:

Geography facts and terms.  Ancient History.  History of  Christianity.  Parts of Europe and Australia.

Circulatory System, Nutrition and Physical Fitness, and Digestive  System.  Interpersonal Relationships.

Weekly word lists by prefixes, suffixes, and root words.  Vocabulary and definitions.  Seven poems memorized.
Language:
Writing poetry, outlines, library research paper, narration, and a journal.  Sentences and sentence parts, fragments, and run-ons.  Punctuation and Capitalization.  Building Dictionary, Thesaurus, and Library skills.  Recognizing, and diagramming all eight parts of speech.
History and Geography:
Advanced map studies, Geography facts – all 50 states.  Exploration of the New World, Canada, Middle America, South America.  U.S. History.
Science:
Plants – fruits and fantastic plants.  Animals – Invertebrates.  Matter, Earth and Space.
Health:
Safety and  First Aid.  Anatomy –  the study of seven systems in our body and skin.
Arithmetic:
Fundamentals involving factions and decimals, place value of whole numbers and decimals.  Measurement skills – adding, subtracting, and conversions.  Converting Celsius/Fahrenheit.  Other Skills:  factoring, percents, graphs and scales, geometry shapes, latitude/longitude, banking skills, and equation solving.
